Rogue
The Rogue is the player character in HyperRogue, characterized as an outside intruder in the hostile hyperbolic world of HyperRogue. The Rogue can gain access to other lands by collecting treasure, and can use any orb they can find to its fullest potential. You can also play as multiple Rogues when playing HyperRogue in multiplayer.
Variants[edit]
You can choose between multiple Rogue models in HyperRogue, as well as choose the color of their skin, hair, sword, and more depending on the model you choose. The Rogues in the table below are shown with their default colors.

Trivia[edit]
- The Rogue is technically characterized as a monster, at least from the perspective of the inhabitants of the hyperbolic world.
- All mouseover descriptions in the game seem to be from the Rogue's perspective, except for the description of the Rogue themself.
- The second paragraph of the Rogue's standard description, describing how they will not make moves that result in their immediate death (checkmate rule) and how they will teleport back to their world when cornered, is removed in Hardcore Mode. The third paragraph, describing how they are surprised by the geometry, is removed in the Euclidean mode.
- The Rogue has an entirely different description in the guided tour and puzzle mode:
A tourist from another world. They mutter something about the 'tutorial', and claim that they are here just to learn, and to leave without any treasures. Do not kill them!
- The Rogue has an entirely different description in the guided tour and puzzle mode:
Notes[edit]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 Although they are still referred to as the Prince and Princess, they appear as recolored versions of the default Male and Female rogues respectively to avoid conflicting with the player's character. Strangely this also applies to the animal rogues despite being vastly different in appearance.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 2.2 There is a male and female variant of each animal Rogue, corresponding with the even and odd character id respectively, however it only changes the default preference for the Prince or Princess, otherwise the male and female variants are identical in both name and model.
